Fisher, Carl Allen 85, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at the Life Care Center of Andover.
Carl was born May 17, 1926, to Perry and Mina (Seastrom) Fisher in Wakarusa, Kansas. He graduated from Carbondale High School and served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and then in the Naval Reserve. Carl married Nellie M. Waetzig on March 16, 1947, in Carbondale, Kansas. He retired from the Kansas Turnpike Authority as Chief of Communications. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, traveling and operating a ham radio. Carl was also a long time member of Kiwanis Club, American Legion and the Boy Scouts.
His survivors include his wife Nellie of the home; son and his wife Marc and Anne Fisher of Topeka, Kansas; son Craig Fisher of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughters and their husbands Nancy and Larry Lang of Overbrook, Kansas; Jeanne and Jerry Mehl of El Dorado; a sister Geraldine Urich of Carbondale, Kansas; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister Irene.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 15, from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. both at Dunsford Funeral Home. Interment will follow on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Shawnee Center Cemetery in Wakarusa, Kansas.
