Calvin Gene Ammons, 73, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 in Wichita, Kansas.

Calvin "Gene" was born on October 14, 1944 in El Dorado, Kansas to George and Mabel (Branstetter) Ammons.  Gene had worked as a Lineman for KG&E for 24 years before retiring.  After retiring from KG&E, he was a Security Officer/Patrol Manager for Pinkerton Security for several years.  Gene was also a Reserve Sergeant for Pittsburg Police as well as Reserve Lieutenant for Crawford County Sheriff Department.  He enjoyed collecting many things such as coins, baseball cards and records.  He had a great passion for Buddy Holly music.  He had a love for music of all kinds.

Gene is survived by his daughter Christina L. Singh of Newton and her husband Rahul, daughter Julie A. Swarts of Newton; grandchildren Tasha Pierson of Newton, Jordan Singh of Newton, Justin Swarts of Nebraska, Nicholas Swarts of Newton; and four great-grandchildren.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Amber Swarts of Newton in 2017 and a sister Carol Sue Metzger of Michigan in 2013.

Family will hold graveside services at a later date.
