2022. Wayne Grimes, 85, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, February 21, 2022.

Wayne was born on Tuesday, October 20, 1936 in Tipton, Oklahoma to John and Dorothy (Bell) Grimes. He served his country proudly as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He attended Washburn University and earned his BA in Business Administration. He later furthered his education in Computer Science and worked as a Computer Programmer/Systems Analyst with various companies throughout his career.

Wayne was united in marriage to Sharol Lynne Dyer on Friday April 4, 1975. They were married for 45 years before her passing in 2020. Wayne enjoyed the outdoors, boating, gardening, and walking his dog, Daysie. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Wayne is survived by his children Michelle Barsch, David (Pam) Grimes, Brian (Coleen) Grimes, Kelli (Russell) Miller, Karri (Duane) Miller; grandchildren Kelsie Miller, Kortni Miller (Ethan Latta), Kristin Miller, Zach Barsch, Kylie (Zach) Zweig, Kayla Bennett, Austin (Cara) Grimes, Nick Grimes, Kristina Harries, Tony Grimes, Braeydon Grimes, Ryle Grimes, Tyler Grimes, and brother Larry (Lynn) Grimes.

Wayne is preceded in death by his wife Sharol; his parents; sister Raynetta; and brothers Don and Dean Chamberlain.

Memorial service will be on be on Friday, March 11 ^th at 1:00 p.m. at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta. Burial will follow at the Winfield Veterans Cemetery, 1208 N. College St. in Winfield.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Alzheimer's Association of Central and Western Kansas, left in care of Dunsford Funeral Home.
