Obituary

Bill D. January, 88, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at his home in Andover.

Bill was born on Wednesday, July 15, 1931 in Augusta, KS to C.C. and Ruby January.  Bill graduated from Augusta High School in 1949.  It was there that he met and later married his beautiful wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Roby.  Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Drill Instructor at Fort Riley, KS.  Bill was a journeyman iron worker for Union Local 606 for over 40 years.  He was elected Business Agent in 1971 and served until 1987 when he retired.  Bill enjoyed gardening, watching sports and spending time with his family and friends.  His home was a welcoming place that hosted a large family pool tournament for over 30 consecutive years.

Bill is survived by his daughters Michelle Hancock of Andover and Leah January of Burns; son Bill J. and his wife Merry of Wichita; five grandchildren, Ruby (Brian) Nelson of Council Bluffs, IA, Cole (Allie) Hancock of Kansas City, MO, Jaz (Samantha) January of Lees Summit, MO, Claire (Brad) Boeshaar of Mission Hills, KS and Jacob (Joe) January of New York, NY; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Ann, his brother James and his companion later in life, Betty Moss.

Funeral Service will be on Monday, January 6 th , 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Dunsford Funeral Chapel.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery both in Augusta.
