Thompson, Barbara Jean, 85, of Wichita passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015.

Barbara was born on November 24, 1929, to George Alvin and Laura Winona (Sanderson) Sweeney in Augusta, Kansas. She graduated from Augusta High School in 1947. Barbara earned a BA at WSU. She married James Thompson on November 1, 1949 in Greenup, Kentucky. They were married for 64 years. Barbara was a homemaker. She loved people and was a caregiver. Barbara loved antiques and collecting them. She enjoyed bible study, playing bridge and enjoying time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her survivors include her son Mark and wife Nell Thompson of Wichita, Kansas; daughter Laura and husband Jeff Tuttle of Wichita, Kansas; daughter in law Traci Thompson of Council Grove, Kansas; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband James, son Robert and her parents.

Family will be conducting services Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church in Augusta, Kansas.

Memorials have been established with His Helping Hands and The Alzheimer's Association.
