Barbara Jean Sawtelle, 79, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

Barbara was born on Saturday, April 26, 1947 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Kenneth and Doris Kasselman.

Barbara was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harold Sawtelle on March 18, 1967. They were married for 59 years until Barbara's passing.

Barbara spent many years working as an administrative assistant, most recently at the Wichita State University's Hearing Clinic, until her retirement.

Above all, Barbara's greatest joy was her family. A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, she was loved by many. She loved reading books and creating scrapbooks filled with pictures of the friends and family she cherished.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Harold; daughters, Shellie Sawtelle (Michelle Sailors) and Stephanie (Duane) MacDonald; grandchildren, Lily, Jacob, and Luke; sisters Melody Wieczorek (Ron) and Kathy Pirtle.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 10:00 a.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.

The family wishes Memorial Contributions be made out to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, left in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
