Obituary

Ardell June Gimple, 89, passed away on January 18, 2018, at her home in rural Douglass, Kansas .

Ardell was born April 7, 1928, near Udall, Kansas, the youngest daughter of Howard Henry and Lila Jane (Adams) Stout.  The family lived in the Cowley and Butler County areas through Ardell's growing-up years.  She attended Augusta High School, graduating with the Class of 1946.  On November 6, 1946, Ardell was joined in marriage to Erl Gene Gimple.  The couple had three sons – Richard Earl, Larry Don, and Robert Dean.

Ardell and Gene spent the first years of their marriage with Gene's family west of Douglass until 1951 when they moved to the current family farm located about five miles southeast of Douglass. They farmed and ranched together until Gene passed in March of 1996 leaving Ardell to manage the farm with Robert's help.

Ardell especially enjoyed her times with extended family and a multitude of friends, visiting, playing cards, and traveling together. She delighted in hosting extended family get-togethers and attending family reunions through the years.

Ardell was a part of the Douglass United Methodist Church, the "Mt. Tabor" community fellowships, "Club" meetings of lady-friends and family, and the Douglass Senior Center.

Ardell will live on in the hearts of her sons, Richard (Joann) of Emporia, Larry (Lisa) of Udall, and Robert (Stephanie) of the farm east of Douglass; grandchildren Carrie (Drew) Shaffer, Kimberly (Gregory) King, Darcy (Thomas) Bacon, Deena Davis, Audra Gimple, Brandon Linot, Ashley Linot & Andrew Kolter, and Casie Linot, ten great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lou Ann and Dale Hall.

Ardell was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Gene, and her sisters, Faye Stephens and Wanda Biehler.
