Allan Thomas Clark, 72, of Lehigh Acres, FL, entered his heavenly home the afternoon of February 5, 2022.   He was born April 20, 1949 to Everett and Lois (Smith) Clark in Aberdeen, SD.  He grew up in Aberdeen and ran track and field and played high school football. He graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, in Rapid City, SD with his Bachelor of Science in 1971 and his Master of Science in 1972.  He moved to Midland, Michigan in 1972 to begin his career in chemical engineering for Dow Chemical Company.  Allan attended Calvary Baptist Church in Midland, Michigan and it was there he met the love of his life, Carolyn A. (Cottle) Clark.  They were united in marriage on November 23, 1974.

Allan was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as trustee, deacon, and chairman of the building committee.  He was instrumental in the creation and construction of the current sanctuary.  At Dow Chemical, Allan perfected the Saran process and was known worldwide for developing and implementing safety standards for fired equipment.  He was the Technology Leader for the FETT – Fired Equipment Technology Team - until 2016, when he retired.

Allan loved to play ice hockey.  He was the number one pick in 1974 for the Midland city league and played into his 50s.  Allan liked woodworking and construction.  He and Carolyn built the house and gardens at 6101 Oak Meadows Ct.  He created and built wooden bobbins for his wife's Bobbin lace projects. Allan traveled the world for his work; living in Canada and the US, and completing projects in Sweden, Brazil, Korea, Finland, Thailand, Argentina, Germany, the Netherlands, Kuwait, and China. Allan over saw FETT team projects on six continents. He enjoyed sharing the world with his family, traveling to Eastern Europe, Ireland, Scotland, China, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, Mexico, visited all 50 US states, and most of the Canadian provinces.

Most of all, Allan loved the Lord.  He read his Bible daily in his rocking chair and taught his children and grandchildren to love God and love others.  He taught his children to ice skate, run, play soccer, work hard, and not be hindered by barriers. Allan had the gift of encouragement, wisdom, great sense of humor, and precious friendship.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Clark; his children: Julie (Jesse) Ramirez of Lehigh Acres, FL; Daniel (Meghan) Clark of Midlothian, VA; and Stephen Clark of Wichita, KS; and grandchildren, Grace and Joshua Ramirez, Caleb and Benjamin Clark; siblings, James (Jane) Clark, Catherine (Rick) Hoff, and Steven (Susan) Clark, Deborah Cottle, Marilyn (Tim) Eldridge, Stephen (Daneene) Cottle; and many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Preceding Allan in death are his parents: Everett and Lois Clark, nephew, Mark Eldridge, brother-in-law Stewart Cottle and 5 heaven-born grandchildren.

A viewing will take place at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral & Cremation Services, Fort Myers, FL on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 6-8pm.  A graveside service will be held February 12, 2022 at 1pm at Kechi Township Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas. A memorial service celebrating the life of Allan Clark will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Midland, MI on March 19, 2022.
